“We have plenty of matches for you”
False. This is without a doubt the biggest lie that traditional matchmakers love to tell people that inquire about their services. The truth is, most matchmakers have very few members in their database and are desperately looking to sign new clients.
If you think logically about the situation, how many people have you ever met in your life that have used a matchmaker? The answer to this question (which is almost certainly none) is the reason why these agencies have such a shortage of matches to set their clients up on dates with.
To make matters worse, in order to make up for the lack of clientele, these companies charge enormous membership fees to keep the cash flow running. All a matchmaker has to do is sign 3 to 5 people a month at several thousand dollars a clip to keep the charade going.
“We will coach you every step of the way”
False. In an ideal world matchmakers would also serve as your dating coach, communicating with you every step of the way on a daily basis. The reality is, most matchmakers will begin the process of distancing themselves shortly after you sign up for your non-refundable membership.
Why? Because in most cases matchmaking is nothing more than a bait and switch scam. They know that you are going to press them for refunds and better dates as soon as the realization sets in that they don’t actually have the matches you were promised.

False. The number 1 priority of a matchmaking agency is to get your credit card number. The number 2 priority is to prevent chargebacks and demands for a refund. The number 3 priority is to avoid bad reviews on Yelp and Google. Then way way down on the list is the priority of finding you what you actually came to find; a meaningful relationship.
“Matchmaking is a great value”
False. You will get an average of one date every month or two (If you are lucky), the membership will cost thousands of dollars, and worst of all, your dates most likely will not line up to your expectations.
At thousands of dollars per date with people that aren’t actual matches, this begs the question, where exactly is the value for anyone other than the agency taking your money?
“This is the best way to meet someone at your age.”
False. Continuing off the previous lie, people in this day and age don’t meet through matchmakers. On that note, did they ever really meet through matchmakers?
So what is the best way to meet someone if matchmaker reviews are so bad?
